A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EAGLE, IDAHO, EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL
BROADBAND INTERNET EXPANSION THROUGH PARTICIPATION IN THE IDAHO
BROADBAND COALITION (formerly the Magic Valley Coalition); AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle recognizes reliable, high-speed broadband infrastructure as an
essential service and vital component of the city, essential to the well-being, economic vitality, and
education of its residents and businesses; and
WHEREAS, many communities across Idaho face significant challenges due to being unserved or
underserved by current broadband infrastructure, limiting access for residents, students, businesses,
healthcare providers, and public safety services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle supports the collective, contiguous, and well -coordinated efforts of
the Idaho Broadband Coalition to develop and implement regional broadband expansion plans that are
community -driven, economically sound, and technologically robust; and
WHEREAS, regional collaboration through the Idaho Broadband Coalition enables a unified
approach to broadband planning and deployment that strengthens grant competitiveness, enables
economies of scale, and ensures equitable digital access across Idaho; and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle recognizes the unique challenges of various jurisdictions in
meeting traditional funding match requirements and affirms that financial investments from state and
federal broadband initiatives should prioritize underserved and unserved areas, in alignment with program
goals and equitable development principles; and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle affirms its commitment to supporting broadband expansion efforts
both locally and regionally, and supports the mission of the Idaho Broadband Coalition to enhance
collaboration, pursue shared funding opportunities, and eliminate the digital divide in Idaho.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EAGLE, IDAHO:
Section 1. The City of Eagle hereby expresses its support for the Idaho Broadband Coalition and approves
its participation as a member jurisdiction.
Section 2. The City of Eagle encourages the Idaho Broadband Advisory Board to support broadband
projects across the state that demonstrate regional collaboration and clearly serve rural, unserved, and
underserved communities.
Section 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval.
