RESOLUTION 3-81
BY THE COUNCIL: DECKER, KRASEN, HALEY, PEARMAN.
BE IT RESOLVED, By the Mayor and Council of the City of Eagle,
Idaho as follows:
WHEREAS, House Bill 72 has been introduced by the Legislative
House State Affairs Committee on January 24, 1981: and
WHEREAS, this bill declares that a 543 acre state-owned land
south of Eagle is surplus and calls for its transfer to the State
Department of Public Lands, with instruction that it be sold: and
WHEREAS, $1.1 million in federal funds has been received for
development as a park: and
WHEREAS, the Eagle City Council feels that development of this
park is in the best interests of the State of Idaho because the
Statewide Comprehensive PIan indicates a need for additional recreation
facilities in this area: and
WHEREAS, the nationwide trend is to locate parks in urban areas
so that people will not have to travel great distances for recreational
opportunities thereby saving in energy supply and costs: and
WHEREAS, if this site is sold it will be lost forever to the taxpayers
of Idaho with replacement being virtually impossible because of scarcity
of land and rapid escalation of costs: and

small amount compared to an open area of this magnitude and what it
could mean in the future as a legacy for our children.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a public hearing be held by

this measure has on the taxpayers of Idaho today and in the future.
