A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY OF EAGLE,ADA COUNTY, IDAHO,AS A NON-
SANCTUARY CITY AND SETTING FISCAL POLICY REGARDING USE OF TAXPAYER
RESOURCES REGARDING ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
WHEREAS, the Eagle City Council has been elected to represent the People of Eagle, Idaho and
being duly sworn by their Oath of Office to uphold the United States Constitution and the
Constitution of the State of Idaho; and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle supports legal immigration into the United States; and
WHEREAS, a"Sanctuary City", although there is no legal definition of"Sanctuary", typically is
a jurisdiction that limits cooperation with federal immigration authorities, limits or fails to
provide information about immigration status and limits the length of immigration detainers; and
WHEREAS, certain municipalities have declared themselves a Sanctuary City and have seen the
negative impacts and significant increases to their budgets and costs to the public; and
WHEREAS,the citizens of the City of Eagle have expressed concern over the transport of
migrants entering the country illegally into the State of Idaho and Ada County which may
compromise the safety, well-being and resources of the City residents; and
WHEREAS,the citizens of the City of Eagle have expressed a desire for the City to not use any
taxpayer resources to fund any services relating to undocumented immigrants; and
WHEREAS,the City of Eagle is not, and will not, become a Sanctuary City; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Eagle is dedicated to maintaining the safety, well-
being, and resources of its residents; and
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Eagle City Council hereby declares
the City of Eagle to be a Non-Sanctuary City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Eagle City Council will not open shelters or appropriate
the use of taxpayer resources to provide services, other than legally required emergency services,
to undocumented immigrants that are within the City of Eagle.
This resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its adoption and approval.
