HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION

DECEMBER 13, 2023 5:30 P.M.
CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 5:40 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: Present: D'ANDREA, HEATH, STARMAN, DUNN.
A quorum is present.
3. PUBLIC COMMENT:
This time is reserved for the public to address the Historic Preservation Commission regarding concerns or
comments they would like to provide to the Commission regarding any matter, up to and including any subject
on the agenda. Out of courtesy for all who wish to speak, the Commission requests each speaker limit their
comments to three (3) minutes.
4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. Update on the Jackson House Historic Structure Report and house tour
Dunn reports on happenings of the Jackson House from the previous time since last update.
Dunn gives update on the status of Historic Structure Report. Group plans to visit house in
January.
B. Update on the Historic Registry changes
Dunn reports on status of Historic Registry updates.
C. Update on CLG Grants for 2023/2024
Dunn refreshes on CLG status and what grants are currently applicable to Eagle's HPC. Dunn
describes two grants and their purpose as well as their time frame.
D. Update on Section 106 review -Eagle Drain
Dunn updates on the process of the Eagle Drain mitigation as well as the purpose of Section 106
as it pertains to the Eagle Drain. Dunn explains what ideas have been presented for the
mitigation outcome.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
A. ACTIONITEM: Minutes of April 12, 2023
Heath makes a motion to accept the minutes of April 12, 2023, as presented. Seconded by
D'Andrea. ALL AYE ... MOTION CARRIES.
B. ACTION ITEM: Vote for New Chairman/Vice Chairman for 2024
Dunn make a motion to approve the new Chairman as Nicole Starman and Vice Chairman
as Stevie Heath, as presented. Seconded by D'Andrea. ALL AYE ... MOTION
CARRIES.
C. ACTION ITEM:'Mary Aikens/Blue Moose cafe plaque
Dunn offers an explanation and a brief history of the Mary Aikens/Blue Moose cafe house which
has since been demolished. Dunn explains the significance of the plaque and what it entails.
D. ACTIONITEM. Mitigation for Eagle Island State Park
Dunn begins reporting on the mitigation for Eagle Island State Park. The group agrees to write a
letter that will be presented to the appropriate channels in January.

B. Museum Manager/Curator Report: Dunn questions the group on their expectations for 2024.
Heath remarks that there should be more involvement of the HPC in community projects and
mentions a possible partnership with the Arts Commission. Group agrees to make an outreach
effort going forward into 2024. Next meeting is set for March 13, 2024, at 5:30 PM.
7. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business, Dunn moves to adjourn, seconded by D'Andrea.
