Marty thanked Steve for assembling new shelves on Sunday for the Friends sale. The books being weeded are being place into storage to be sold at next sale, February 16-17. Some may be sent out of state to third party as donation. First, they will be offered to local non- profit. The Friends are sponsoring summer reading and an overhaul of the teen area. Book Scouter, shipped out 2701 books and brought in another $5,000. December is a big month for the daily sales. Looking ahead to creating an online old book store. Boise friends have done this and have been successful. One volunteer is taking on this project. Additional Items or Public Comment Bob VanArnem: Flyers with Eagle Public Library mentioned, made it feel like it was an endorsement. This is an ad for commercial group. Suggests that commercial enterprises have to pay to use the space in the library. Additional issue with technology: There is a new scene on the monitor now for the new catalog and/or navigation buttons added by City IT person. For those less tech-savvy this is difficult. It would be nice to have end users test before buying new system. Highlights from November Overall circulation was down across the board, attributed to the harsh weather. Almost 400 games went out in November. Board suggests posting signs welcoming people to go in the room to select games. Staff development day went very well. Staff training on new electronic media. Firefighters came to train on appropriate emergency response. New metric wi-fi usage will be collected. To become library industry standard in 2015/2016. Significant collection weeding is underway. Linoleum under computer carols ripped after they were being moved back. It may cost around $500 to fix. Steve asks for pre-approval: Pete moved, Christine 2nd, unanimous approval. Two new magazine towers are also needed (one for teen section and one for children's section). About $800/ per + shipping. Space and functionality is limited in the meantime. Terri made a motion to pre-approve the expenditure, Christine second, unanimous approval. At some point Steve would like TVs in the library. To be discussed in future. Library Liaison/City Hall Reports (Councilman Ridgeway) Due to the absence of City Councilman Ridgeway, no report was given. Old Business Meeting Room Policy: defer to January meeting New Business Board Directory Tom Rogers is new Trustee. His term is through September 30, 2019. Christine's listed number is a cell number. Computer Workstations Budget Allocation Steve would also like to replace the computer carols with smaller, custom-made tables that are more mobile. Current ones are too heavy and are dangerous to have staff to move. To get three tables from Correction Industries would cost about $700 each/ $2,500 total. Hold on these until new budget year. Support to hire movers to move the carols in the meantime during the linoleum repair. Bulletin Board Policy (review) Reviewed and reaffirmed with no changes. Exhibition Case and Displays Policy (review) Reviewed and reaffirmed with no changes. Next Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2015, at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber. Adjournment There being no further business, Board Member Pete adjourned the meeting at 8:40 pm. Respectfully submitted, Terri Soelberg Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees Secretary
