EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
MINUTES
05 November 2012
Board President Maureen Germano called the EPL Board of Trustees meeting to order at 7:04
p.m. Present were Board Members Mary Berent and Kathy Coburn. Margo Walter and Pete
Dover were excused. Also present were Library Director Steve Bumgarner, Jeanie Comerford,
Operations Manager, and Terri Lenigan, Administrative Assistant.
Mary Berent made the motion to approve the agenda as presented; seconded by Kathy Coburn,
the agenda was unanimously approved.
Mary Berent made the motion to approve the minutes for the 8 October 2012 meeting as written;
seconded by Kathy Coburn, the minutes were unanimously approved.
Mary Berent made the motion to approve the bills for payment; seconded by Kathy Coburn, the
bills were unanimously approved for payment.
Due to the absence of a Friends representative, Director Bumgarner discussed the role of a
friends group for the benefit of our new Board Member Kathy Coburn. He also mentioned that it
has been about a month since the withdrawn items have been picked up by Better World Books.
It will probably be January before the Friends receive any portion of the monies due from the
sales of these items. On Friday, 9 November, there will be a post-sale meeting to discuss the
success of the annual fall book sale.
Statistical reports (handout):
New format: Director Bumgarner revealed the new format for reporting monthly statistics. This
new report highlights the most important circulation statistics, comparing the current month/year
to the previous month/year. All statistics necessary for the annual reports are still recorded and
are available for review at any time. The gate count is broken into two totals. The interior count
is the number of patrons who enter the library proper. The exterior count counts those that come
into the foyer or community room areas. Currently, we have no way to account for those
patrons. An exterior door counter will be purchased in the coming months.
Nov-Dec Calendar of Events (handout): The Nov-Dec calendar of events is available for
patrons. One of the programs is a preview of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University. At
times, this program makes reference to biblical quotations that might be offensive to some
participants. Therefore, the program will be sponsored by a private individual rather than the
Library.

library tour. Although they did not ask many questions, they did spend a long time and appeared
to be very interested in our facility and services.
