Minutes - 2003 - Eagle Public Library - 05/12/2003 - Regular DRAFT OF MINUTES OF MAY 12, 2003 EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY— BOARD OF TRUSTEES • The Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by President, Victor Ramirez. All current Board members, the Director and the City Council Liaison were present. • Victor welcomed Jane Marrs as a new member of the Eagle Library Board. She will complete the term resigned by Ann Germano. • Terry made a motion that the Agenda be approved and Nancy seconded the motion. Terry made a motion that the Minutes be approved as submitted and Jane seconded the motion. Both motions passed unanimously. • Ann reported that the Friends of the Library Book Sale had a profit after expenses of$2,951.38. Their profit in recent years has averaged $4,000; however, this year the weather was bad and no book dealers attended. The library needs another CD cart, and the Director may request that the Friends purchase that item. • Terry moved that the $22,629.53 total of bills for May 2003 be paid; Nancy seconded the motion. • Ann reported that 13,000 children's books have been chipped. Traffic in the library was down last month but check out of items is up. The cleaning service for the library is very satisfactory, but there are some problems with the carpet cleaners. Ann attended the Solution Pro (previously Micron Internet provider) meeting for the directors in the area; all the public libraries will be using that provider except Meridian who is going with 9gest. Ann will be on vacation from May 21-27. Her retirement party is scheduled from 4-8 PM on June 12th • Stan gave a report on the upcoming City Hall vote. The Statesman's figures were in error; the actual figure is $4,159,000 including soft costs. Other costs are prepaid. There will be an Open Town Meeting this Thursday at 7 PM at the Senior Center to provide a time for public questions and input. • There were no Committee reports, unfinished business, new business or public comment. • The next EPL Board meeting will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday , June 9th • The Budget workshop is scheduled for Saturday, June 14th and will be presented to the City Council on July 8th • Ron Baker, the new EPL Director, will begin work on May 29th. Stan suggested that he be formally introduced to the City Council on June 10th and invited him to make some "State of the Library" remarks at that time. • Terry made a motion that the meeting be adjourned and Nancy seconded the motion.
