EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD
SPECIAL MEETING
FEBRUARY 22, 2000
Notes
Present: Ann, Liz, Susan, Don, Terry (Notes by Liz)
1. Planning the EPL Birthday Party.
• Susan will contact three more story tellers.
• We will invite the Brownies to conduct the opening ceremony and present
their flag.
• Janice will do the Babes
• Don will be providing music
• Eagle Orchestra will be sending a small group
• Decided to have the activities like the story tellers in the community room.
The music could be there, too, or in the patio if it is a nice day.
• Coffee & cookies in the entrance hall
• Stickers for the kids until they run out
• Susan will contact folks about coffee and cookies
• Ann and Janice will send out letters for door -prize -books to local merchants
and include a guest library card.
• Liz will make the boxes for the door -prizes
• Ann will contact John Miller to invite him
• We need to hear from Kelli if there are groups coming from Eagle Middle
School or Eagle High to perform.
• The Board agreed that $50 was a suitable honorarium for the story tellers to
be paid by the Friends or the Library
2. Signage at the library
Ann showed the Board the signs that City Council wanted to wire onto light
poles and paint on to sidewalks to curtail skateboarding in front of the library.
The Board felt that there were more issues beyond painting on the sidewalk
and agreed to discuss this issue again after they have appeared in front of City
Council. (Editorial note: If City Council does put us on the agenda, it is vitally
important that we all be there if at all possible.)
3. Review of the meeting room policy
At Ann's request, the meeting room policy has been amended to read that ALL
groups turn in a $25 deposit at the time they reserve the community room.
That deposit will be returned to the group ONLY if the room is put back into the
shape it was in when the group arrived. Don suggested preparing a checklist
to help the groups. Motion by Liz, seconded by Susan. Unanimous.
