FEBRUARY 12, 1996
The meeting was called to order by Gary at 7:00 P.M. ' Susan, Gary, Pat and
Ann were present. Donna and Shara Dene were excused.
Minutes of January 8, 1996 meeting were approved by unanimous consent.
Financial Report None was available, the City Hall did not have them ready.
Approval of Bills Bills totaling $3,354.72 for February were approved by
unanimous consent.
Director's Report/Statistics Ada County check-outs have increased as have
volunteer hours.
Committee Reports None
Unfinished Business Notion was made by Pat to approve Lisa TaPay for cleaning
service for the library, 2nd by Susan; carried. A cleaning service and snow
removal will be considered for next year and included in the next budget.
Job description for the Library Director and Librarian was reviewed and approved
by the board. Motion by Pat to accept and 2nd by Susan; carried. It will now
be sent to the City Hall.
Ann stated she would like some to help with the computer. Gary will check into
getting someone.
New Business The meeting of January 22, 1996 with Stan Bastian and the designer
Jim Murray was discussed. A motion was made by Susan that a letter be drafted to
the Mayor and City Council in the form of an invitation to meet with them in the
future to present and clarify our 20 year plan, 2nd by Pat; approved by unanimous
consent.
A communication from Tom Wilson, Trustee from Ada Community Library Board regarding
overcrowding at their library was discussed. It was suggested that Tom be invited
to our next library board meeting to discuss this problem, and was approved by
the board. Ann will issue this invitation.
Library Circulation Policy; Ann has received some complaints in regard to minor
children not being able to check out videos. The previous policy has stated
that one must by eighteen (18) years or over. The freedom of access policy states
that children cannot be denied this access. Ann drew up a new Library Circulation
Policy to be signed by parents giving permission for a minor child to have a library
card and the ability to check out library materials including audio and video
cassettes. The parents will assume all responsibility and costs for damages,
loss and fines of materials checked out by minor children. Motion to approve this
policy made by Susan and 2nd by Pat; carried by unanimous consent.
Upcoming Business: Budget plans and considerations; cleaning services and snow
removal; Trustee position to be filled as Gary's term expires in September.
