AUGUST 27, 1990 7:00 P.M. LIBRARY
The meeting was called to order by President Mike Covault. Present were Ann Gallinger,
Chris Gaston, Pat Krasen, Linda Phillips, Kelli Blair and Glenda Bothwell. Minutes
of the June 11, 1990 were approved. MSC Linda/Kelli.
STATISTICS: There were 150 children registered for the Summer Reading Program at the
Library. Purchases were discussed. More supplies will be needed and fiction books
need to be purchased. Bertha Miller donated $1,000.00 for books to be purchased by
the Library. She had made a Centennial Quilt and sold raffle tickets on it. Ways
to recognize her gift were discussed. Bills for June for $2,573.83 and July/August
for $4,959.89 were approved. MSC Chris/Linda. Diana Abramson was introduced as the
new employee from Ada County District Library. She will work Monday from 1:00 - 7:00
and Thursday from 9:00 - 1:00. Aimee will work Friday from 9:00 - 5:00.
Idaho Library Association Annual Conference in Idaho Falls in October was discussed.
LIBRARY HOURS: The Board wanted the Library to open each day at the same time at
10:00 A.M. and include Saturday hours for a weekly total of 42 hours effective on
October 1, 1990.
The hours will be:
10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P. M. Monday
10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P. M. Tuesday
10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P. M. Wednesday
10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P. M. Thursday
10:00 A.M. - 5:00 P. M. Friday
10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P. M. Saturday
Motion was made to accept these hours. MSC Chris/Kelli.
During Ann's six week absence for sick leave, the substitute will work 40 hours. A
list of prospective employees will be submitted and reviewed by the Board. The salary
will be based on experience. Pat Liechty will be the first choice to fill the 40 hours
if she will take it. Mike suggested that names may be referred by Lynn Melton at
Boise Public Library. If there are no names, an advertizement will be placed in the
paper for the opening, stating a six week temporary position.
Dian Ibffpauir from Ada County District Library will get with Ann to determine how
many county residents will be impacted by Eagle City annexation and determine how many
county residents would pay a non-resident fee.
Mike reported on the proposed Boise Public Library Contract terms and conditions. Ann
is to be retained as Eagle Librarian. The Budget Porposal was submitted by Mike.
There will be a meeting Wednesday, August 29, in the library at 5:00 P.M. to discuss
the contract with BPL that Mike and Nona, Eagle City Attorney, have worked up for
the Eagle Library Board approval. Mike stated that the letter from Mayor Guerber,
RE: Ann's release, was not official. A letter by the Board will be drafted to
Ann and to Steve Guerber to give Ann enough notice and state the Board's intent and
desire as to what happens if the contract with BPL falls through. The aides that
work at Eagle would be hired from Boise Public Library if there is a contract.
This year will be the end of Chris Gaston's five year term as Trustee and names will
be needed to be submitted by the Board to fill the vacancy.

The Eagle City Budget Hearing will be Tuesday night, August 28, 1990, at 7:30 to be
attended by the board members. The September Library Board meeting will have the
election of officers for the 1990-91 fiscal year. Meeting adjourned. MSC Kelli/Linda.
