Minutes - 1990 - Eagle Public Library - 02/12/1990 - Regular EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES February 12, 1990 7:00 P.M. Library The meeting was called to order by President Mike Covault. Present were: Linda Phillips, Chris Gaston, Pat Krasen,Ann Gallinger and City Council Liaison Steve Hamrrons. The minutes of the January 8, 1990 meeting were approved. MSC Krasen/Phillips. Ann reported on the statistics. Steve Hammon wanted to how many people checked out the monthly circulation. The $4.00 Interlibrary Loan charge was questioned and Ann will check with Idaho State Library about this. The Idaho Power bill was explained. There was discussion on Ann's vacation and summer hours. The Ammer Reading is a priority and will need $400.00 for books. Ann will ask the Friends of the Library if they would like to purchase the video storage for the Library. The summer aide from Ada County District was discussed. Ann will check with Community Service Alternatives on volunteers for the Library. Bills totaling $2,847.40 were approved. MSC Gaston/Phillips So far 350 books from Ada County District Library are at Eagle Public for circulation. Mike will talk with Judy Gillespie as to the direction that Ada County is going RE: reference vs fiction. Chris Gaston reported on the joint board meeting (Ada County/Eagle Public) .There was discussion on letters to Ada County patrons and Eagle patrons. Chris had a letter Ada County had drafted and gave the board copies. An informal survey of our patrons was discussed. Mike would like a position statement for the Board members to use--1. remaining with city, 2. joing Ada county, or 3. create own district. Future goals for volunteers were discussed. There was discussion on closing the library when Ann has vacation. There is no Honey to pay substitute help. National Library Week begins on April 23 with discussion on adopt-a-book, volunteer an hour/month for the library and other ideas. Chris will take this. The Whittenberger Foundation Grant was discussed and we will look into applying for Centennial books and for children's Centennial books for Eagle Public Library. T-shirts with a logo by local artists were suggested as a Library Centennial promotion. New members that were suggested for the vacancy created by Larry Martin's resignation were: Melanie Mdtlock, Donna Meier or Kendall Meier. Pat Krasen was appointed Secretary to fill Larry's vacancy.
