October 17, 1988
7:00 P.M. Library
The Eagle Public Library Board met at 7:00 P.M. on October 17, 1988. The
meeting was called to order by President Chris Gaston. Board members present
were Susan McColl, Ada Costanzo, and new board member Rex Hudson. Mike Covault
was absent. The Library Director, Ann Gallinger, was also present, along with
Council member Gary Walker.
OATH OF OFFICE:
President Chris Gaston gave new board member Rex Hudson the Oath of office.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Statistics for September were noted. District circulation made up 43% of our
overall circulation.
Bills for September totaling $9,766.02 were reviewed. MSC/Ada, Susan that the
bills be approved.
PBS VIDEO GRANT
$4000 was sent by certified mail. The library won't hear of the grant results
until November.
CIRCULATING VIDEO COLLECTION
Ann stated the we won't hear the results of our grant applicalon for the
circulation video collection until November. The grant states that the
Idaho State Library will pay 75% of the cost to our 25%
IDAHO LIBRARY ASSOCIATION MEETINGS
Ada reported on board liability. She stated the importance of having a policy
on Aids. The board decided to work on that policy at the next meeting.
Ann reported on library administration and computers in the library. We are
still waiting on a hard disk system, but once that is in place we hope to
utilize a program called "Circulation Plus".
OTHER
Ada will be board liason for new board member Rex Hudson.
Opening city budget to include A.C.F.L.D. monies was discussed with
Gary Walker. There is still some question as to whether the budget will be
opened.
There was discussion on changing ordinance #25 to read that"fees shall be set
by the board: The purpose is to change our current non-resident fee from
$5 to $35. It was suggested that we see how the ordinances from the Boise
and Garden City Libraries read. Discussion on changing the ordinance will be
taken up at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 P.M. .
