September 14 , 1987 7 :00 P.M. Library
The Board of Trustees of Eagle Public Library met at the library
at 7 : 00 P.M. on September 14 , 1987. The meeting was called to order
by President Ada Costanzo. Answering roll call were Glida Bothwell,
Susan McColl, Chris Gaston, and Leola Yucis. Ann Gallinger,
Librarian, was present, also a guest, Susan Breaux. Our Liaison,
Tom Minow, arrived later. Minutes were reviewed. MSC, Glida, Chris
that the minutes be approved as submitted. Statistics of July and
August were duly noted. Bills for $3,362.90 were presented. MSC,
Susan, Chris, that the bills be allowed.
Survey:
MSC, Glida, Chris that the report on the Survey be discussed
at this point. Susan Breaux reported on the Survey as she will be
doing it. She offered a sample and recommended that our question-
afire be accompanied by a cover letter. It was decided to meet
again in a few days for a more definite cover letter and other
samples.
Policy Manual:
Pres. Ada volunteered to update our Policy from the past year' s
minutes if any changes are required.
Library Hours:
After some discussion we decided to delay a decision on
Saturday opening hours until we see the results of the Survey.
Insurance:
Susan was asked to draft a letter to A. I.C. confirming our
position on Insurance, Liabilities, Errors, and Omissions. The
letter will go through Tom as our Liaison.
Budget Hearing:
Susan reported on the Budget Hearing with the City Council.
Our budget was cut to $29, 000. 00 but we were allowed to carry over
of approximately $5,000. 00 which would bring us up to $34 , 000. 00 .
We need a written commitment from the City Council to this effect.
Auditor:
Letters from two (2) more auditors have been received and
noted. MSC, Glida, Leola that we employ Mr. Graham as official
Auditor at $1, 200. 00 per year. Ann will send a letter of thanks
to the other two.
Air Conditioner:
We had a bid of $1, 631. 00 from Drake. T.M.L. is sending a
man out with another bid. MSC, Chris, Susan that we delay more
discussion until the fellow gets here.
I.L.A. :
Glida will attend the meeting at Sun Valley. Ann may go on
Friday.

Board Member:
Ann submitted a list of 17 names as a possible new member.
Glida added Mollie Minow. Board members were asked to each call a
few names to see if they would consent to be drafted.
Trustee Workshop:
Plans were discussed to invite Marj Shelby to' talk to us on
Library expansion, planning new libraries, or how to handle library
funds. It was suggested we invite other Library Trustees to attend
as our guests. Final confirmation will be made at the November
meeting.
Friends:
Meeting of the Friends will be Tuesday night, September 15, 1987.
Some Board members will attend.
Miscellaneous:
Ann reported on a Computer Course. Recognition was given to
Glida for 10 years of service. A flower arrangement was given to
her, and we will purchase a book of her choice for the Library.
Ann asked for vacation for September 16 to September 25, 1987.
Request granted. The representative from T.M.L. arrived with the
bid for the Air Conditioner. Their bid was $1,527 . 00. Decision
between the two bids will be left to Ann.
Meeting adjourned to be followed by an Executive Session.
