Board of Trustees Meeting: January 13, 1986
The Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees met on Monday, January 13, 1986 at
the library with President Glida Bothwell presiding. Members present were
Chris Gaston, Ada Costanzo, Susan McColl, and. Leola Yucis. Ann Gallinger,
Librarian,was also present.
Minutes of the November 11 meeting were approved with one correction.
Ann reported that Black's Law Dictionary and Secrets by Danielle Steele were
purchased in Bev Hancock and Bonnie Krasowski's name.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Statistics were noted. ACFLD cards now total 1+74 with 166 new or renewed
resident cards. Bills for $826.89 were approved by the Board.
Kris Watkins' ILA membership was paid by the library, as an employee. Her
resignation was tendered after the payment but the board felt the the library
should pay the membership because she is also the President of the Friends' .
The board felt that this payment might encourage other Friends' officers to
join ILA.
It was noted that volunteer hours had totaled 41 hours in November.
Ann will report her comp time to the board. A time sheet was given to the
board that provided detailed information concerning meetings and times Ann
was away from her desk.
QUARTERLY REPORT
Ann provided the board with the combined and district reports for this quarter.
As of January 13, three checks have been received from ACFLD totalling $3,822.48.
Checks are to be received monthly.
CIRCULATION DESK
The bid received from Mr. Levi for the new circulation desk was $837.00. The
delivery date given by Mr. Levi was February :L5, 1986. Board members verbally
approved the purchase of the desk in December. Discussion concerning the moving
of the book drop to the library door was favorable. Ann will check into the cost
and feasability of the move and will report to the board in February.
CITY COUNCIL
A new liason will be appointed, by the Mayor, at the January 14 city council
meeting.
SHELVING
The large green shelves in the middle of the library will be repainted to match
the new shelves `ordered. The Friends are negotiating a contribution from
Baird Oil. They have offered to donate 5¢ per gallon of gas sold 41),1 February
to the shelving fund. c)v-rin9
It has come to the board's attention that the city owns some of the library shelving
and will be sold by the city, when new shelving arrives. The board requested
Ann inventory the library fixtures and their source of funding for future reference.
It was also noted that the book shelves painted on the front window needed further
explanation. Glida will talk to Kris Watkins about adding additional information
to the window to clarify the concept.
ACFLD
Wednesday, January 15, at 10:00 AM a public hearing will be held at the Ada
County Building concerning the ACFLD. A petition to dissolve the district has
been turned in. Glida, Ann, and Susan will be attending the meeting. Ann's
assistant will not be hired until this problem has been solved. The district's
January meeting will be held at the Eagle Public Library on the 21st at 7:05 PM.
ISL YEARLY REPORT
Ann has submitted the yearly report to the ISL. A grant package is coming from
ILA,and Andy Ribner, Public Library Consultant, will help with the forms.
PAINTING THE LIBRARY
The painting has begun and the back section of the library has received a coat
of paint. The mayor stated that the city would pay for the paint.
LIBRARY HOURS
The board moved and seconded that the library post new winter hours. Problems
during the lunch hour have caused the library to post new hours. It is noted that
these are temporary hours until an assistant or solution to the problem is found.
The winter hours are Monday: 1:00 to 7:00
Tuesday thru Friday: 9:00 to 12:00 1:00 to 5:00
NON-PROFIT MAILING STATUS
Glida is researching the feasibility of the library receiving non-profit mailing
status. It would be used for fund raising by the library and the Friends.
