Minutes - 1985 - Eagle Public Library - 04/22/1985 - Regular EAGLE PUBLIC LIBRARY Board of Trustees Meeting: April 22, 1985 The Eagle Public Library Board of Trustees met on Monday, April 22, 1985 at the library with President Bev Hancock presiding. Members present werp Glida ��t�.�elI , Chris Gaston, Susan McColl , and Leola Yucis. Ann Gallinger, Librarian was also present. Minutes of the March 18 were approved as circulated and corrected to read that "Leola Yucis was excused" . LIBRARIAN' S REPORT Statistics and quarterly repport were noted. Ann reported that the supplies were over the budgeted amount. Bills of $85. 68 were approved. This was for the Doubleday Crime Club subscription. FRIENDS Ths jo E-iends and Trustees meeting will be May 8th to discuss the fund raising for shelving. Kris Watkings is in charge of placing coffee cans in stores for collections of funds. Bev and Glida will work on the news releases. Also, a ruling has been made by the State that the Friends is a tax-deductible organization and also the tax credit applies to the Friends. ADA COUNTY DISTRICT Leola and Bev attended the April meeting of the Ada Counuty Library District. A draft of the contrart rconty libraries was presented. Bev will meet with Lynn Melton to discuss the contract in relation to Eagle. Eagle would get $15, 000. 00 from the district in quarterly payments. This amount is not to replace local funding. Bev suggest that the Trustees attend the District meetings the second Tuesday of the month. It will be at Kuna library on May 14. LIBRARY AIDE Kris Watkins worked three months for the library. During January, crbruary` and March, Kris worked 114 hours, and processed 497 book . 3ard discussed summer help and Ann recommended we hire Kris Watkins for that position. Leola made the motion and it was seconded by Chris G. and carried that Kris Watkins be hired at $5. 00 per hour with a minimum of 20 hours a week, up to 25 hours a week with flex-time. LIBRARY HOURS A change in library hours was discussed. Opening on Saturdays was also � /- discussed . It was decided to wait until until Fall to make any changes in hours open. The City has acquired a cleaning contract for janitorial service. . UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS AT LIBRARY DESK The issue of persons working at the front library desk who were not trained or authorized was discussed. The policy of November 9, 1984 was reaffirmed that only persons specified were to work at the desk. Susan made the motion, Chris seconded and it passed that the name of Anita Martin be added to the list. BUDGET A preliminary budget will be needed for May Chris G. and Susan agreed to serve on the budget committee. �I�LS The summer reading theme will be "Seek your own adventure" . Summer reading was discussed . It will begin the week after school is out and end July 26. There will be four films at the school during July only. MELLON Grant The Friends will be given the grant to buy the series on America. ILA will meet in Boise on Oct. 3 5, and PNLA will be in Eugene, Ore. Aug 21 24.
