Minutes - 1984 - Eagle Public Library - 05/14/1984 - Regular EAGLE LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES MEETING: MAY 14 , 1984 The May meeting of the Eagle Library Board was held at 7: 30 P.M. , May 14 , 1984 , at the Eagle Public Library with temporary President Susan McColl presiding. Members Glida Bothwell and Beverly Hancock were present and member Leola Yucis was absent and excused. Librarian Ann Gallinger also was in attendance. On motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Minutes of the April , 1984 meeting were approved as circulated. Librarian Gallinger reported on current statistics indicating that circulation was down slightly in April. She also reported that Inter-Library loans for patron pick-up was also down as this practice had been discouraged by the Librarian. No bills were presented for Board approval. Susan McColl announced that it was necessary for the Board to select a President to complete the unexpired term in that office created by Donna Abbotth resignation from the Board. It was agreed by unanimous consent that Beverly Hancock would serve as President until the end of September 1984 . Beverly Hancock then assumed the chair and presided over the balance of the meeting. At this time several people were suggested as possible appointees to the Board to complete Donna Abbott' s unexpired term as a member of the Board. Following discussion, it was moved, seconded and carried that the name of Chris Gaston be submitted to the City Council for appointment. Chris was contacted by telephone and agreed to serve if appointed. Ann Gallinger reported that twenty-six applications for the summer job had been received. She stated that because of the fact that Kris Watkins had experience with both the Library and City Hall, she would be hired again for the summer. With regard to the Summer Reading Program, Ann Gallinger reported that the materials had not yet been received from SIRLS. She also stated that the Friends of the Library would be contributing the cost of films for the Summer Film Program which would amount to about $400. 00. Ann Gallinger also reported that the application for a CWEP employee was progressing and that the City was awaiting some action on the part of the Health and Welfare Department before making the submission. MINUTES EAGLE LIBRARY BOARD MAY 14 , 1984 PAGE 2 It was announced that the time had come to begin work on the Library ' s budget for fiscal year 1984-1985. The President asked member Susan McColl and Librarian Gallinger to serve with her as the Budget Committee and that she would schedule a meeting for the week of June 4th. The Committee is to prepare a pre- liminary budget and will present it to the Board for finalization on June 11th. Glida Bothwell stated that it would be nice to arrange a luncheon for Donna Abbott and the President asked Glida to contact Donna concerning her schedule and make arrangements for such a luncheon.
