LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES
January 11, 1984 Board Meeting 10 : 00 A.M.
Work Meeting 1: 00 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Eagle Library Board was called to order
at 10 : 00 A.M. January 11, 1984 by President Donna Abbott. Present
were members Glida Bothwell, Beverly Hancock, Leola Yucis and
Librarian Ann Gallinger. Susan McColl had been excused.
The minutes of the past meeting were reviewed. Glida moved that
we strike paragraph 5 from the minutes and insert "CWEP help for
the Library was discussed and Susan agreed to contact the Mayor
to clarify the situation" . Beverly seconded and the motion passed.
Librarians Report:
Statistics for November and December were discussed. The Quarterly
Budget, October through December 1983, was reviewed. The only money
spent was for salaries, postage and ILA expenses. The Board
recommended that Ann start buying some new books for the collection.
Ann presented a bill of $17. 80 from the Book Shop. Leola moved,
Glida seconded, that the bill be paid. Motion carried.
President Donna asked for an opinion from the Board relative to
sponsoring workshop programs from the Ada County Extension Service.
After some discussion it was agreed we would contact Marilyn Shinn
as to what is available and when.
President Donna asked about more help in operating the projector.
The Board agreed to follow the procedure as outlined in our Policy
Manual.
Glida reviewed the SIRLS report by Bill Wilson. We are asked to
contact our Legislators urging the passage of a Bill for Improve-
ment of Public Libraries.
Glida also reported on Wayne Crosby' s proposal to use some of the
money in the Disaster Fund to start building a Senior Center and
City Hall . The architects drawing was presented. Beverly moved
that the Board request that a member volunteer to serve on Wayne
Crosby' s Building Committee. Glida seconded. Motion carried.
Beverly volunteered to serve.

Glida explained the difference between CETA and CWEP. In regard
to securing a CWEP employee for the Library, Beverly recommended
that we approach the City Council relative to hiring such help.
Donna and Beverly will contact Karen McComb to secure the necessary
forms and information for a presentation before the Council. Ann
is to write the necessary job description.
ILA membership dues need to be renewed. They will be paid from the
Library Budget.
The idea of a Scout Project for painting the Library was discouraged
by the Board.
We will buy a thank you gift for Betty Morris for all the help she
gives us.
The Friends purchased a carpet sweeper for use in the Library--cost
$9 . 40 .
Dave Escalante is the liaison member from the Council to the Library.
After deciding to meet Monday, February 13, 198 , at 7 : 30 P.M. the
meeting was adjourned.
