MINUTES OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES
October 19, 1983 1 : 00 P.M.
The regular meeting of the Eagle Public Library Board was called
to order by President Donna Abbott at 1: 00 P.M. October 19 , 1983.
All Board members were present. Donna introduced our new Board
member, Beverly Hancock. The City Council had approved Beverly
as a new Board member and Leola for a second term. Welcome to
the Board, Beverly.
The minutes of the September meeting were approved as submitted.
Librarian' s Report:
Statistics for September were reviewed. Ann stated that our
magazines are well circulated, but the subscriptions are running
out. It is hoped they may be renewed in January.
Bills for $265. 82 were presented. The bills were for the ILA
Convention in Couer d'Alene. Leola moved that the bills be
allowed. Glida seconded. Motion passed.
ILA Conference :
Susan gave a most interesting report on the pre-conference meeting.
The speaker, Bob Walton, being a computer specialist and a certified
librarian had many worthwhile ideas to present. He also spoke on
uses of consultants in small libraries . Ann enjoyed Carolyn Feller
Bauer' s great ideas for story tellers using materials found in
books on hand.
Ann and Susan both felt the conference very worthwhile.
Christmas Bazaar:
The Bazaar will be November 5, 1983 at the Eagle Elementary
Schools. The Friends of the Library have the food booths very
well organized.
Volunteer Help:
Susan reported on help for the Library available through CWAP.
Requirements are that the work must provide the experience necessary
for gaining regular full time employment. We must send in a job
description. Glida contacted the High School. We have one
volunteer from this contact. Ann also has a list of volunteers.

New Business:
Glida reported on the Govenor' s Budget Meeting. We were urged to
contact our Legislators by letters relative to the need for
funding libraries. She also asked for a cost analysis for overdue
books for SIRLS.
Our next meeting will be November 16, 1983. There will be another
work session at 10 : 00 A.M. followed by the regular meeting.
