The regular meeting of the Eagle Public Library Board was called to order by President Susan McColl at 12:30 P.M. May 6, 1981. Roll call was answered by Donna Abbott, Glida Bothwell and Leola Yucis. Gloria Dittman from Friends of the Library was present as was Librarian Ann Gallinger. Minutes of April 1, 1981 were read. Donna moved, seconded by Glida that the minutes be approved as submitted. Motion passed. EAGLE FUN DAYS Donna reported that lineup for the parade will be at 1:00 P.M. at the Sun Ray Dairy. The parade will start at 2:00 P.M. President Susan asked Gloria to coordinate the project of selling pop before and during the parade. Gloria agreed. We are to have 2 locations, one at the starting point of the parade and one somewhere along the route. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT Statistics for April were reviewed. Financially we appear to be in good shape. Ann reported that due to some abuse of privileges on Interlibrary Loans, a policy will be enacted that only patrons of Eagle Public Library with a permission slip may check out books at Boise Public Library. This policy will be posted in our library and a letter to that effect weill be sent to SIRLS. Bills of $310.29 for books and supplies were authorized to be paid. ILA REPORTS Glida and Ann gave favorable reports of the ILA Convention in Boise. Glida told of information given on legislative contacts effective for libraries. Ann reported on exhibits and extra programs offered by the convention. ALA Convention will be helf June 29 - July 3 in San Francisco. PNLA Convention will be in Portland in August. Attendance at PNLA is favored by board members. Glida asked for help in collating the cook- book. BUDGET Susan told us our preliminary budget is due June 1, 1981. We may look for a 10 or 12% increase. The mayor said the city council will entertain a slightly larger budget if it contained specific goals. He also said the Community Center project is in a holding pattern with a May 6, 1981 Page 2 delay of anyway three (3) years before there can be any major movement. The Evans Building might be a possibility. President Susan set up a budget meeting for May 20, 1981 at 11:30 A.M. in the library. SUMMER READING PROGRAM Ann told us the theme for Summer Reading is "Animal Trackers". She showed us animal track stamps that will be used on the children's tracker licenses. The program will start right after school closes. Members of the Friends will be asked to help with registration. We will have Disney films for summer showing. The board recommended a diversity of films be selected. PROJECTOR POLICY The Business Men's Association will receive a note of thanks for their help in getting the projector. Glida moved, Donna seconded that the projector be operated only by board members or the librarian for library or community events. After some discussion, the motion passed. Meeting adjourned. President Susan reopened the meeting after Glida moved the meeting be reopened for additional business. Leola seconded and motion carried. President Susan was directed to write a letter to the city council expressing the wish of the board to have some imput on the hiring of help -in the library. Meeting adjourned. 7kc412k ga-4 u[l�.
