The Eagle Public Library Board held a special meeting at
9:00 A.M. on May 13,1977. All board members were present.
At this meeting in regards to the letter sent to ~s concern-
ing the mayor as chief administrator of all city employees the
following motion was made: Glida Bothwell moved that we
accept the recommendation that the mayor be chief administrator
of all city employees. The motion was seconded by Isla
McAuley and carried. A letter was sent to the city.
Isla McAuley made the motion that Glida Bothwell be secre-
tary of the library board beginning at the next regular
meeting of June 1, 1977. Maureen Heston made the second
and motion was carried 3 ayes and 1 nay.
Isla McAuley made the motion that the chairman of the library
board, Donna Abbott represent the library board to meet and
interview a librarian with the mayor. Betty Morris second
and it passed unanimously.
There were two motions made concerning the resigning of our
present librarian, Diana Rutledge.
Maureen Heston made the motion that the Policy Manual be
completed and summitted by the 27th of May by Diana Rutledge.
Seconded by Glida Bothwell. The motion passed with 4 ayes.
2. Maureen Heston made the motion that a complete finiancial
report be made up to date as of May 27 and for the librarian
to submit a final report of activities completed and current
statis of all reports by June 1. It was seconded by Isla
McAuley and passed with 4 ayes.
A letter was sent to the city regarding the proposals con-
cerning the employment of a full time librarian. There was
some questions as to whether the librarian would work on
Saturday 9-12. The board recommended that the library not
be opened at this time since it would require finding an
applicant who would work a six day week. Also it is the
opinion of the board that maybe afternoon hours would be
better. Many children are entertained by T.V. on Saturday
mornings and the parents are busy with there work taking
advantage of this. Other than the above question the board
voted to accept the proposals.
A copy of the revised Eagle Public Library Policy concerning
the duties and responsibilities of a librarian was sent to
the mayor and city council. The library board also ask the
city for a copy of the duties and responsibilities the
librarian would have concerning city hall so there would't
be questions at a future date.
The library board looked over the resumes which have come
in. A dead line for resumes is Monday, May 16, at noon.
It was agreed that the members shall meet at noon on Monday
May 1], 1977
and shall pick out three resumes which they think would best
fit the job opening for a public librarian. Donna Abbott will
then get with the mayor and interviews will be planned. The
chairman of the board ask each board member to read up on the
qualifications needed to hire and secure a good applicant for
the position of librarian.
It was agreed by the board that they take Diana Rutledge to
lunch at the Valley Broiler on May 25, 1977 at noon.
With no other business the meeting ajourned at 11:]0.
Respectfully yours,
J/)tI-IWtA/ {2~t;C
