HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Meeting Minutes
Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane
October 11, 2016 5:30 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Pence calls the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: Present: NICKEL, STAFFORD, PENCE, WEDDINGTON. Absent:
DAVINA.
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. Approve Historic District Open House Details:
Chairman Pence introduces the item. The Commission reviews item 1-6 below. Discussion
to clarify and identify the goals of the open house.

3. Personal invitations:
The Commission discusses sending special invites to the Chamber of Commerce members,
City Council, SHPO representatives and businesses.
4. Postcard mailers:
Postcards will be mailed to property owners within the District. Chairman Pence will see
that the postcards are printed, and already have the labels ready to be applied.
Approximately 130 postcards will be sent, along with the personal invitations mentioned
above.
5. Trifold Displays:
Commissioner Davina has been working on tri -fold displays. The verbiage has been
reviewed by the Commission, and believes it will serve the purpose well for the open house.
Discussion of ways to engage the public and receive comment from the public at the Open
Houses.
6. Timeline:
Various avenues will be utilized to distribute the information regarding the open house

B. Final decision on November Historic District Open House:
The Commission will hold their open house on November 8, 2017, at 6:00 p.m.
C. Eagle Island State Park — Update
Chairman Pence states that Eagle Island State Park has a few buildings not currently open to
the public from the old prison farm that existed at their site. The Commission would like to
see if they can work with the State to preserve some of the structures and perhaps provide
educational opportunities to inform the public and highlight its importance in the history of
Eagle. Discussion of a possible site visit this week.
4. NEW BUSINESS:

Weddington moves to approve the minutes as presented. Seconded by Stafford. ALL
AYE... MOTION CARRIES.
B. SHPO to CLG Grant Applications are available:
Submission deadline in January 2, 2018, at 5:00 p.m.
Chairman Pence reminds the Commission that there is the opportunity to apply for CLG
grants, and the pertinent timelines. This item will be continued to the next meeting and when
perhaps more information regarding the Eagle Island farm property can be discussed and
used as a potential grant seeking opportunity.
C. HPC webpage on City Web
Chairman Pence has updated the Commissions page with their mission statement as well as
the survey for the open house.
D. Report on Idaho Heritage Conference attendance.
Chairman Pence and Stafford discuss the seminars they attended at the Idaho Heritage
Conference.
5. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:40p.m.
