Minutes - 2017 - Historic Preservation Commission - 06/20/2017 - SpecialTHE CITY OF EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Special Meeting Minutes Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane June 20, 2017 5:00 P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Delayed meeting start to obtain a quorum — no members of the public in attendance. Pence calls the meeting to order at 5:54 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: NICKEL, STAFFORD, PENCE, DAVINA, WEDDINGTON. Absent: STAFFORD, URQUTAGA. 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A. Budget discussion for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Pence reviews the draft budget by expenditure line item. Discussion of line items: Including the process of investigating the creation of a historic district and moving forward on the same, the inaccuracy of the current municipal historic register and the need to correct an update it; signage for buildings, how to brand Eagle's historic district, establishing architectural guidelines for structures in the historic district for any modifications to homes or businesses in the district. A great deal of public outreach and education in the form of flyers, open houses are foreseen for the creation of the district. B. Finalize budget request for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Nickel moves to recommend the proposed budget to the Council for fiscal year 2017-2018. Seconded by Davina. ALL AYE...MOTION CARRIES. 4. NEW BUSINESS: NONE 5. REPORTS: Davina discusses the quantitative analysis that was requested by the City Council. Discussion amongst the Commission. Davina will forward that the Commissioners, and it will be added to the July regular meeting for potential action. Pence discusses the creation of a flyer or mailer to promote Town Hall meetings to discuss the district. Pence also states that discussion of a historic district could be added for comment at each of the Commissions regular meeting. Discussion. Nickel asks if the Commission would like to participate in the Eagle Fun Days event on June 7th. Pence states that a questionnaire could be created and used for the event to gather data on the creation of the historic district. Nickel will reach out to Eagle Public Works to see if the Merrill Park Rooster could be made available for Family Fun night photo opportunities again. Nameplates for the new Commissioners will need to be obtained, it addition, the Commission would like to get t -shirts ordered for the event. Candy or treats will be procured as well. The Commission will coordinate amongst themselves to volunteer to attend the booth. Pence welcomes Commissioner Weddington. Page 1 of 2 6.
