HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Special Meeting Minutes
Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane
April 18, 2016 5:30 P.M.
1. CALL TO ORDER: Pence calls the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL: Present: NICKEL, STAFFORD, PENCE, DAVINA. Absent: URQUTAGA
A quorum is present.
3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. Establish "purpose" for the creation of historic district in Eagle.
Values, recreation, aesthetics, and guidelines that set standards for the district. So it creates a high
quality in the district.
B. Review/Approve letter to City Council for investigating creation of district.
Pence will forward a copy of the letter to the Commission so everyone can look it over and have their
input. They would like to present the idea to City Council at the May 9th meeting.
C. Discuss/Develop tasks needed to create district.
General discussion amongst the Commission regarding the tasks that need to be done to create the
district.
-Establish a boundary.
-Permission to amend the Comprehensive Plan and be a part of it.
-Personally visit each home and business in the district to make them aware of the benefits and
provide helpful information regarding the historic district.
-Have a notification campaign system.
-Ensure that the public is more than welcome to attend the meetings and have input (Town Hall
forum).
-Meeting within the other bodies within the City to discuss this idea. Have a joint meeting with the
Design Review Board, perhaps at a Design Review Board scheduled meeting.
-Get examples of different communities that have established a historical district.
Shawn provides an update on the potential purchase of the Sharp property.
4. ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business Nickel moves to adjourn. Seconded by Davina. ALL AYE...
