Quarterly Speakers Program: Much discussion on future speakers.
Commissioner Kelch suggested Cherie Buckner-Webb possibly during February for
Black History Month. Commissioner Fallow said she knows her and will make contact in
the fall. It was also suggested maybe someone from the Hispanic History Museum in
Nampa to discuss the influence of Hispanic migrant workers. Suggested maybe do this
in May around Cinco de Mayo. Commissioners Keich and Bearden know people that
dress up and do speaking engagements as famous people from the past, ie. Mrs.
Lincoln, Amelia Stewart Knight, Laura Ingalls Wilder and Mark Twain. Ketch and
Bearden will contact the speakers and see if they would like to present a future program.
Miscellaneous: Commissioner Bearden asked if anyone knew Mr. Ken Holsinger, he
had met him during a photo shoot that was taking place at the corner of Eagle Rd. and
old State St. During a brief discussion, Commissioner Bearden learned that Mr.
Holsinger was attempting to buy the Carpenter property at 1st/Idaho streets and has
hopes of restoring it. The commissioners thought it would be a good idea to invite Mr.
Holsinger to the September commission meeting to hear his future plans for the
property. Commissioner Bearden will make the contact and extend the invitation.
