Minutes of May 8,2013
Call to order: 5:30 p.m.
Roll Call: Thomason, Fallow, Nickel, Scott, and Bearden. Kelch and Stafford
absent.
Approval of minutes: Thomason made small corrections in spelling. Fallow
approved and seconded by Nickel.
Grant Application Update: Fallow stated that she had just received an email
about the signs stating that they were in and looking very good. The total cost of
the signs came to $3,094.00, which was a bit less than first thought. Fallow stated
that she sent an invoice to Sharon, treasurer of the City. She also stated to finish
up the paperwork she needs to send a report and invoice to SHIPO.
Discussion was had by all about an unveiling for one of the signs. It was decided
by the majority that the best location was the Museum. It was thought that
perhaps during the Eagle Fun Days would be a good time however the final
decision will be made at a later meeting.
Thomason led a discussion about our future budget and our needs for projects
next year. These included; Speakers Program, A National Preservation
nomination for an already approved Beal home on Beacon Light Rd., Eagle
walking tour and possible audio tour combination, more historic signs for our city,
and expenses for the continuation of the local site registry.
Thomason also led a discussion about the upcoming speakers program featuring
two longtime residents; Mr. Ron Marshall, and Sherri Sharp. He showed everyone
the poster that was designed by Kelch, everyone thought that it looked great.
Thomason discussed the components of the program with the Cohen's being first
with a presentation from the Mayor or another such as Mr Nickel. Nickel stated
that he will invite the City Council and Mayor again. He showed the commission a
blank certificate to be used, all approved. Thomason discussed refreshments;
Fallow stated that Janice Campbell from the Library usually took care of that.
Thomason stated that he would check with her and if she couldn't he would take
on the task. Thomason stated that it would be an asset to have some historic
photos for people to look at; Beard stated that he would help gather these from
the museum. All were excited about this program.
Nickel stated that he has not yet looked into business cards for the commission to
use but he would work on that.
Scott gave a short update on the Merrill Rooster. She stated that an Eagle scout
has offered to help, Mike Aho is working on bringing the Rooster to Eagle's own
storage, and she contacted Nancy Merrill in regards to the content of the plaque.
