Minutes of September 12th,2012
Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 5:30 pm.
Roll Call: Commissioners Frank Thomason,Karianne Fallow, Alana Dunn, Rita Stafford and
Sean Nickel were present. Commissioners Diane Scott and Pam Kelch both had excused
absences.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Approval of Minutes: The June 13th and July 11th minutes were unanimously approved by the
Commission.
Grant Project update: Commissioner Fallow updated the commission on the current grant
status. The grant has gone to ISHS and we should expect to hear from them in a couple of
months about the outcome. This grant is for completing four more informational plaques to
place in front of historical structures that are currently on the municipal historic register.
Certified Local Government Program: Commissioner Thomason has forwarded an email to
the Commission members from Anne Swanson regarding paperwork that is needed to be filled
out by the Commission and returned. Commissioner Fallow volunteered to work on this
paperwork and return it to Anne. Anne also needs all of the Commissioners resumes on file and
had asked us to email them in to her.
Quarterly Speakers Program: This Quarterly Speakers Program has been arranged by
Commissioner Fallow. Trisha Canaday will be presenting National Historic Register properties
in Idaho. The program is set to start at 6:30pm on October 17th in the Community room of the
Eagle Public Library. Fliers have been made and distributed throughout the community in hopes
of a large turn out!
Miscellaneous: City Clerk Sharon Bergman addressed the Commission in place of Councilman
Mark Butler who could not attend this evening. Councilman Butler wanted to speak about city
ordinances that pertain to the Commission, in particular those concerning the Eagle Historical
Museum. Sharon handed out a watercolor rendition of different changes that are being proposed
to the façade of the building that is currently housing the museum. The changes include
removing half of the shed roof that is along the front of the building to open up the look of the
front. Also, paint the front of the building a bright color and possibly paint the door red to attract
attention. Also being proposed is the a slight change on the inside of the building. Remove the
upper half of the left wall, so visitors and staff can see and visit more easily. Councilman Butler
wanted to reiterate that the Commission has no authority over the personnel employed at the
museum, but would solely be a recommending body. The Commission agrees that this is an item
that needs to be moved to next meeting,to give the Commission time to put forth
recommendations on this idea.
Adjournment: There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:30 pm.
Commissioner Thomason moved for adjournment, Commissioner Fallow seconded the motion.
Respectfully submitted,
