Diane Scott had an excused absence. Curator, Laurie Baker also attended. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Approval of Minutes: Pam Kelch moved and Nancy Suiter seconded the motion to approve the minutes as read. The motion passed. Certified Local Government Grant (CLG): Laurie Baker reported that copies of the second draft of the nomination of the Bushnell -Fisher house to the National Historic Register have been sent to SHPO. Grant reimbursement should follow soon and SHPO will submit the nomination to the National Park Service in time for the Park Service Commission to consider it at their November meeting. Register of Historic Sites in Eagle: Pam Kelch reported that she has completed Phase I of the Register. It includes information for 40 properties. She distributed copies of the updated information to Commission members for their files. She will begin Phase II soon. An interesting historical note she related to the Commission is that two women, Martha E. McCarty and Iona E. Case, held patents to large amounts of Eagle property in the late 1850's, which was unusual for the time. Frank Thomason added that much of the property in Meridian was also owned by a woman in the 19th century. Frank Thomason reported that Al Bolin of the Ada County Historical Preservation Council had invited him to speak at their last meeting. He spoke of the progress being made toward Eagle's Municipal Historic Register Site and said the Council members were impressed and interested in knowing more about it. Department Transmittal Concerns: In a conversation with Laurie Baker, Bill Vaughan, of the Planning and Zoning Department, said he was waiting for a list of properties the Commission would like to know about whenever any plans for changes in those properties is to be considered. Ms. Baker said she intends to send the list by email immediately. NEW BUSINESS In the discussion that followed Frank Thomason's report of his appearance at the Ada County Historical Preservation Council, Kari Fallow suggested that we might want to meet with them and other historic preservation groups in the area. It was decided that we should meet in Meridian, after the Meridian Commission's regular meeting in October, and invite other interested parties to attend, including the Ada Council. Each group can make a brief presentation about their current activities, followed by an informal social hour. Pam Kelch suggested that if this is a successful endeavor, we might want to repeat it on a quarterly basis. Adjournment: There being no further business, Nancy Suiter moved and Pam Kelch seconded the motion to adjourn. The motion passed. Respectfully submitted, Nancy Suiter, Secretary Approved Frank Thomason, Chair :6 \IAA4D" Sharon Bergman, City Clerk
