Minutes - 2010 - Historic Preservation Commission - 05/12/2010 - Regular EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION Minutes of May 12, 2010 Call to Order: Chair, Frank Thomason, called the meeting to order at 5:38 p.m. Roll Call and Introductions: Commission members Karianne Fallow, Diane Scott, Pam Kelch and Nancy Suiter were present. Museum Director, Laurie Baker, was also present. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Approval of Minutes: Due to a computer error not all Commission members received the March minutes and so approval was moved to the next meeting, June 9, 2010. Certified Local Government Grant: Historical Consultant, Madeline Buckendorfhas had difficulty contacting property owners Bill Cohen and Edith Fisher Cohen. The Cohens travel frequently. She will try at a later time to contact them. In the meantime, Ms. Buckendorf continues her research with ISHS and still plans to meet the deadline of June 30, 2010. Register oj Historic Sites in Eagle Report and Further Site Selection: Pam Kelch reported she is now working on researching properties on Floating Feather Road. Frank Thomason congratulated her on the admirable work she has accomplished so far and posed the question if any other city in Idaho has a registry like it. Laurie Baker reported the Ada County Historic Preservation Council has announced this year's Treasure Awards. All seven are Eagle properties. Ms. Baker will be accepting the awards on behalf of the city at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13,2010, at the Ada County Library. Everyone interested is invited to attend. Facebook Site for Museum: Kari Fallow reported the Museum's Facebook page is up. She now wants photos and other materials to post. Kari will show Laurie Baker how to access the site. NEW BUSINESS April 27, 2010, Pre-Council Museum Visit: Eagle City Council members visited the Museum and had a brief tour of the exhibits. Pam Kelch made a presentation of the Register of Historic Sites in Eagle and Frank Thomason made a presentation of the American Cities)book project. Ms. Baker reported the Council has approved the book project and she has received their permission to proceed with it. Frank Thomason stated he is confident the Council is pleased with the progress the Commission is making. There was discussion regarding the latest acquisition of the Museum, namely, the 1894 reed organ donated by Ann Rogers, a descendant of the Rogers family who were early residents of Eagle Island. The piece has a colorful history and has had a long journey to its new home in the Museum. It will be the centerpiece of a new exhibit. Adjournment: There being no further business before the Commission, Nancy Suiter moved and Kari Fallow seconded the motion to adjourn. The motion passed and the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.,m.
