EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Minutes of the Meeting of February 3, 2010
Call to Order: Chair, FrankThomason, called the meeting to order at 5:36 p.m.
Roll Call and Introductions: Commission members Karianne Fallow, Nancy Suiter, and
Diane Scott were present as was volunteer, Pam Kelch. Laurie Baker, Director of the Eagle
Museum, also attended.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Approval of Minutes: Laurie Baker pointed out that in the minutes of the January 13,2010,
meeting, under the heading, Certified Local Government Grant, the phrase, "... the three
consultants should be on board by March 23," should read "one of the three consultants should
be on board by March 23." Nancy Suiter moved and Diane Scott seconded the motion to accept
the minutes as corrected. Motion passed.

Request for Qualifications Review: Following discussion of the review process, Ms. Baker
suggested each member go over the material at home and continue at the March 10 meeting.
Register of Historic Sites in Eagle: Pam Kelch reported that all photos of those sites in Eagle
that may be eligible for inclusion in a local, municipal listing, have been taken. Laurie Baker
has made a template for a booklet showing these sites and told the Commission she had
mentioned her goal to make the booklet as a fundraiser for the Museum at the State of the City
meeting. She will take the sheets with the information on the properties to the assessor's office
to determine the age of the properties. Ms. Kelch also reported she has found and photographed
the headgate of the Farmers' Canal, identified the barns in the listing, and met John and Phil
Frye who told her of some family folklore that maintains there are family artifacts buried
somewhere in the foothills. At present there are appr~ximately 60 properties possibly eligible.
Ms. Baker said that list may be trimmed to between 3d-35, and plans to have the survey done by
the March meeting. Old Valley Farm has offered to do a'fundraiser.
Council Presentation, February 23, 2010: Ms. Baker said the Commission is on the agenda
for the pre-Council meeting for the above date and urged members to attend. The pre-Council
meeting convenes at 5:30 p.m.
NEW BUSINESS
ASHPC Treasure Awards: Ms. Baker shared materials related to the annual Treasure Award
program. Each year since 2003 the Ada County Historic Preservation Council has placed signs
identifying properties that are of historic value in the county" ... to encourage private owners to
preserve them for future generations." The Council is currently seeking nominations for this
year's awards.
Resignation: Mark Pelkowski has tendered his resignation from the Commission as he now
travels extenSively for his new job. Pam Kelch has agreed to take his place and her application
for the position should be on the Eagle City Council agenda for approval on March 23, 20 I O.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
