Minutes - 2007 - Historic Preservation Commission - 02/28/2007 - Regular
THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES FROM THE SPECIAL MEETING OF: February 28, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 10:35 a.m. by Chairman Jason Pierce.
Roll Call: Commission members attending were: Jason Pierce, Kay Madary and Betty Fisher. Also
attending were Anne Gibson, Steve Guerber, Gerry and Sue Johnson, Laurie Baker and Geneva Trent.
Update-Car Show: Steve Guerber read a memo from City Clerk Sharon Bergmann
re her concern over the Commission's February 8, 2007 decision to not coordinate the Vintage Gems
Car Show in August, 2007. A discussion ensued re the amount of preparation required to mount the
show and how much time said preparation might take. It was also noted that Geneva and Betty went
to fill out the forms for placing the car show on the 2007 USRI Schedule of Events and that they were
unable to accommodate the mandated deadline and thus the forms were not filed. As it turned out,
Vintage Gems had taken care of the filing themselves so there was still an opportunity to coordinate
the show.
Kay asked about the possibility of putting together a list of responsibilities regarding the
show's presentation and the new Curator said that she would begin reviewing the numerous files
covering the show's 2006 presentation and compile a list of responsibilities.
After a brief discussion, Betty moved that the CommissionlMuseum once again prepare for
the show, Kay seconded and the motion was passed.
Museum Relocation: Steve Guerber spoke of the possibility that the city of Eagle might be selling the
museum building and that we should consider the necessity of looking for another space. Discussion
re another space revolved around the currently vacant old hardware store space next to King's and the
recently vacated savings and loan building located in front of the Eagle Public Library. Steve Guerber
suggested that the space next to King's might be the most appropriate as it was considerably larger and
thus offered several expansion possibilities and because of its location made its space/cost ratio more
attractive. Kay also noted that its parking lot might be a good location for the car show.
