Minutes - 2005 - Historic Preservation Commission - 06/08/2005 - Regular
THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES FROM THE MEETING OF:
June 8,2005
The meeting was called to order at 9: 10 a.m. by Chairman Diane Scott. Commission
members attending were: Diane Scott, Betty Fisher, Weldon Fisher, and Larry Rackham.
Weldon moved that the minutes of the meeting of May 11,2005, be approved as written;
Betty seconded the motion, and motion passed.
A job description for a Museum Curator was presented and reviewed. Diane Scott moved
that the job description be approved and that the Commission hire Geneva Trent to fill
this position. Betty seconded the motion, and motion passed.
Diane reported on the reception desk that has been ordered from Correctional Industries.
It should be finished by the first of August; Rolando and his helper had been here to get
barnwood but didn't call first and no one was here, so they will have to return.
New exhibits were discussed; though Eagle Water Company had been contacted about
building them and would be glad to do them next fall, Diane reports that Wright Brothers
have offered to do the construction for free and she will call them for a meeting here at
Museum to work out the details.
The reader board sign was discussed, Weldon thinks that it needs to be sanded and
painted and casters put on it. Diane thinks we need to get a professional sign done. No
action was taken on the sign.
The feasibility of buying an antique wagon was discussed, including the possible liability
of having it outside or the possibility of theft. Betty offered to let the museum store it or
something like it in her garage/old gift shop until it could be put on display.
Diane reported that she hadn't heard anything yet on the grant for a Walking Tour.
The problem of having signs and curbs for parking both along the east side of the parking
area and along the south side of the building was discussed. Larry said he will contact
City Hall about resolving this.
Diane brought one of the oral history kits that she has put together to show the members,
and encourage them to do more oral histories.
Diane told about the Civil War re-enactors that had performed at Eagle Island State Park,
and suggested that we ask them to perform here in Eagle in conjunction with and Open
House at the Museum. Betty moved that we ask them to do a display the first or second
week of August, Larry seconded the motion, and motion passed.

membership is $75 per year. Weldon moved that the Commission become a member of
AASLH, Larry seconded the motion, and motion passed. Betty made the motion to
purchase the museum software, Weldon seconded the motion, and motion passed.

secretary position is now vacant. Larry moved that election of a new secretary be added
