Minutes - 2004 - Historic Preservation Commission - 09/01/2004 - Regular The Eagle Historic Preservation Commission MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF: September 1, 2004 Lois Kunkler brought the meeting to order. Commission members present at the meeting were: Diane Scott, Lois Kunkler, and Terry Steach. Terry Steach approved the minutes of the last meeting. Diane Scott reported that the telephone had been installed. A new telephone had been purchased and a recording was made on the answering machine. We need to make mention of a telephone meeting held to vote on the purchase of the very old May tag washing machine in the amount of $300. Everyone was reached and it was approved. Weldon Fisher and Diane Scott went to Caldwell to pick up the machine. We also purchased a small wood cook stove for $25 from the same place. We decided to table the discussion on the Museum Software and AASLA Membership until all members could be present. Diane Scott reported that she has taken histories from Weldon Fisher, Lois Kunkler, Thelma Taylor, Ray Lewis, Jerry Potter, and Betsy Marshall most are cooperative in using the camera. Everyone has provided photographs of their family, which have been scanned into the computer and put on disk. The people that do not want their picture taken are recorded and transcribed. The camera equipment is working very well. One additional piece of equipment and digital video/still software are needed to enable us to take the raw data and complete the cycle of video taping histories and then editing and transferring them to DVD. The Commission approved the purchase of a video capture card for $779.00. (see attached copy of specs). This card will enable us to input the raw video to the computer. The second item that the Commission approved was the purchase of the Adobe Video Collection for approximately $750.00. This software package contains programs that will enable us to edit both digital video and digital photographs and ultimately produce a professional DVD. We plan to purchase the above and submit receipts for reimbursement. The discussion of the photos of Old Barns was tabled for next meeting because Weldon was not here to give us an update. We discussed our plans for a new group of exhibits for the museum. We plan to build a barn display out of old barn wood. This will look similar to the Blacksmith Shop in design. It will be on the opposite side of the room from the Blacksmith displa)r. We plan to show dairy on one side and a chicken coop on the other. Along with the barn we plan to build a small "Prune Shed" next to the barn. We plan to display stories and photos about the Prune Shed and have wooden boxes to represent the way it would have been. This project will be planned for the winter time. We voted on going ahead with these plans and looking into someone to do the construction. We will present the costs for this project after we find someone to build. The main costs should just be labor. We have two sources for barn wood that will be free. Lois moved to adjourn and Terry seconded. Meeting adjourned. Sharon Bergmann Eagle City Hall ~~~ -\\ Diane Scott "",'" uU""" ", 't 0 F E-1 "~I ..' ,A\, ........ 0". ##411' l' v .. ..
