THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
April 16, 2004
Meeting was called to order by chairman Weldon Fisher.
Commission members in attendance were Lois Kunkler, Diane Scott, Geneva Trent,
Weldon Fisher, and Theresa Steach.
Lois Kunkler moved to approve the minutes of September 17, 2003, as read.
Seconded by Weldon Fisher, passed unanimously.
Weldon asked if we were still interested in touring the old Breshears house (old
house on Chase property on Floating Feather Road). Members still interested, he
will try to make arrangements with Mike Chase for tour. Weldon also noted that
we need to get more photos of local barns; Diane offered to meet Weldon next week
to take photos. Terry Steach told about phone call from Brian Hoff about
preserving a barn west of Eagle Road off Chinden. She will call to get more details.
A museum display about local barns was discussed, and it was noted that we may
want to get photos of silos also and show how old barns and silos have been
incorporated into today's architecture and landscapes.
Weldon reported that he had called Steve Guerber, and they thought the Bureau of
Reclamation would let us have one of the valves from the old diversion dam for
Farmers Union Irrigation Canal but have not heard anything yet. Weldon will keep
calling until he gets a decision on the valve. It would be a unique display for Eagle.
Also Weldon reported on his call to the State Parks Department; they have to wait
for their re-organization before we can pursue setting up a tractor display at Eagle
Island State Park.
Weldon suggested that we wait to see the progress on the photos of barns before
setting the next meeting date.
