Minutes - 2003 - Historic Preservation Commission - 04/18/2003 - Regular
THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
April 18, 2003 Special Meeting
Meeting was called to order by chairman Weldon Fisher.
Commission members in attendance were Geneva Trent, Weldon Fisher, & Theresa Steach.
Also attending were Eric Keck, representing the owners of the Steeple House Building (formerly the
Eagle First Baptist Church), and Mark Butler.
Minutes of previous meeting will be reviewed and acted on at next meeting.
Eric Keck presented the plans for renovating the church building. According to him, the elevations
presented have already been approved by the City of Eagle. However, since Geneva Trent had
commented at the Planning and Zoning hearing on the proposed renovations that it would be
preferable ifthe front doors were returned to the original "gothic" style, one ofthe conditions of
approval was that the Historic Preservation Commission also approve the proposed changes to the
building. Mr. Keck was also concerned that the building remain on the Eagle Register of Historic
Sites.
Mr. Keck requested that the Commission prepare a letter of approval or disapproval to go to the
City of Eagle.
Fisher moved that we prepare a letter to the City that we support the plans to renovate the church
building, and that the builder be allowed to proceed; Steach seconded the motion, all aye.
Meeting adjourned.
