THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
March 22, 2000
Meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. by acting chairman Geneva Trent.
Commission members in attendance were Weldon Fisher, Geneva Trent, and Maggie Jeters.
No minutes were available from the November 18, 1998 meeting.
There was discussion about the progress on our renovations to the old library building for a local
museum and Chamber of Commerce office and visitor center. Weldon suggested that we look at the
display of machinery in Caldwell park near the armory for ideas on displaying farm machinery.
There was discussion on Eagle City Code 8-9 and what we need to do.
New officers were elected for the coming year; Weldon Fisher was elected as Chairman and Geneva
Trent volunteered to be Secretary.
Moved by Fisher to hold coming meetings of the Historic Preservation Commission on the third
Wednesday of the month at 1:00 pm at City Hall and seconded by Jeters; all Aye...Motion Carried.
There was a discussion on the need for an inventory of historic buildings and sites around Eagle.
Fisher suggested this inventory of sites should include the irrigation canals and school sites; maybe
some of these should be posted. Jeters volunteered to contact Ann Swanson of the Idaho State
Historical Society about attending our next meeting and explaining the current status of the Ada
County inventory of historic sites and the possibility of obtaining a CLG grant this year to complete
one for Eagle.
Also discussed was reviewing the Design Review guidelines for building design in Eagle; Geneva
noted that City Council discussion indicated that the term ''turn of the century" gives the D R board
'heartburn'. Will ask Tracy for copies of those guidelines and then see what we can do about them.
It was noted that Betty Miller has submitted her resignation from the Commission, and we will need
to find a person to replace her.
Moved by Trent and Seconded by Jeters to adjourn: all Aye...Motion Carried.
