THE EAGLE HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
June 17, 1998
Meeting was called to order at 1:20 p.m. by acting chairman Geneva Trent.
Commission members in attendance were Lois Kunkler, Betty Miller, Geneva Trent, and Maggie
Jeters.
Moved by Jeters and Seconded by Trent to approve minutes of the May 20, 1998 meeting as
presented; all Aye... Motion Carried.
Trent read a letter from Ann Swanson, Grants Operations Analyst of the Idaho State Historical
Society regarding the FY 98 CLG Grant for Eagle to do an archaeological survey along the river
near Eagle. There was discussion about the potential of people finding about sites that may be
discovered through researching open public records, and the doubt that the study would yield any
beneficial information to the Commission but would require a substantial amount of time.
Moved by Jeters and Seconded by Kunkler to NOT go forward with the grant and archaeological
study; all Aye... Motion Carried.
There was discussion about possible information on historic buildings in Eagle already compiled by
the Ada County Historical Society, or other groups. It was also noted that we need to develop a list
of historic buildings in Eagle. Betty Miller volunteered to further investigate what information has
already been compiled and is available, and the group agreed that this should be put on the agenda
for the next meeting under New Business.
Maggie Jeters suggested nominating Marilyn Hansen to fill the remaining Comission seat: Trent
noted that she was waiting for a decision from another person that had been asked if they were
interested.
Moved by Miller and Seconded by Kunkler to adjourn: all Aye...Motion Carried.
