MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
May 20, 1998
Commission members in attendance were Betty Miller, Geneva Trent, and Maggie Jeters.
Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written.
It was reported that the letter to the City Council requ(~sting the use of the old library building
(after the new library is built) has been received by the City Council but that they are planning to
get an appraisal and probably sell the building because of its structural problems.
Thank you letters to former Commission members will be printed on letterhead and sent to them.
A motion was passed that the Eagle Historical Preservation Commission not be a participant in the
upcoming Eagle Fun Days, but members of the Commission can be involved as individuals or as
members of the Eagle Historical Society.
Geneva reported that she has contacted Ann Swanson about the CLG grant project, and Robert
Y ohe will be contacting us within the next two weeks to arrange a meeting. Betty Miller
volunteered to contact the Ada County Historical Society to find out about funding of the County
Survey of Historic Sites.
Betty Miller moved, and Maggie Jeters seconded the motion, to nominate Lois Kunkler to fill one of
the vacant positions on the Commission. Motion passed: unanimously. Geneva Trent will write the
letter to the City Council for consideration at the next City Council meeting.
Betty Miller moved, and Maggie Jeters seconded the motion, to re-establish regular meetings of the
Eagle Historic Preservation Commission to be held every third Wednesday of each month, but to
change the meeting time to 1:00 PM. Motion passed unanimously.
Election of anew chairman was discussed, and the commission informally agreed to postpone an
election until a full Commission is present.
Maggie Jeters reported that area for historical displays, in the 3-sided kiosk in the small downtown
park is approximately 4 feet by 4 feet; and the group informally agreed to have Maggie put together
the first historical display. Maggie also volunteered to Illut together something for the Historic
Commission to contribute to the City of Eagle's Web Site.
Betty Miller moved, and Geneva Trent seconded, adjournment at 4:55 PM.
