THE EAGLE mSTOm~ PRESERV ATION ~OMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF:
March 24, 1998
Commission members in attendance were Linda McCloskey, Betty Miller, Geneva Trent, and
Maggie Jeters.
Minutes of the previous meeting were not available; Maggie Jeters was asked to check with Audrey
Plott for the minutes of the January 15, 1998 meeting.

The commission then went off record for an executive session.
Back in regular session, the commission acknowledged receiving the written resignations of Audrey
Plott and Margie Plott. Motion was made by Geneva Trent, seconded by Betty Miller, to send
thank you letters to Audrey Plott and Margie Plott for serving on the Commission. Approved
unanimously.
There was discussion about nominating Lois Kunkler as a replacement member on the Commission;
reserved action on this nomination until next meeting.
Betty Miller moved, and Geneva Trent seconded, a motion to allow Linda McCloskey to send letter
to City Council re: use of old library building after sending a copy of the proposed letter to each
member and noting any correcti~ns that are brought to her attention rather than waiting until next
meeting for approval.
Maggie Jeters volunteered to contact Mr. Cantrell at ITD about the archaeological study done of the
Eagle area before the Highway 44 Bypass was constructed. ' -
A letter received from the National Park Service, Department ofthe Interior, recommending that
Eagle be certified as a CLG under the National Historic Preservation Act, was entered into the
Commission records.
Maggie Jeters reported on the activities of the newly formed Eagle Historical Society.
Geneva Trent moved, and Maggie Jeters seconded, that we establish regular meetings of the Eagle
Historic Preservation Commission to be held every third We!lnesday of ~ach month at 3:45 ~~.
Motion passed unanimously. -------- -- ---
Betty Miller moved that Geneva Trent be named Secretary of the Commission; Maggie Jeters
seconded and the motion passed.
Maggie Jeters reported that there will be a 3-sided kiosk in the small downtown park, and one side
will be for historical information.
The question was raised of whether or not the Commission could be included on the City Council's
web site. No action was taken.

Linda made copies for each member of the criteria for preservation of historic sites used by the
National Register of Historic Places.
Eagle Fun Days (June 12-13 of 1998) was discussed. Linda moved that we officially invite the Eagle
Historical Society to attend our next meeting on Wednesday, April 15, at 3:45 PM at City Hall to
discuss joining forces to do something special for Eagle Fun Days. Possibilities mentioned were a
parade entry, a portable kiosk of historic information, or handing out leaflets of Eagle's history.
Betty Miller seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
Betty Miller moved, and Geneva Trent seconded, adjournment at 2:01 PM.
