THE EAGLE HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES FROM THE MEETING ON AUGUST 5,1997
The third meeting of the Eagle Historic Preservation Commission began at 10:01 a.m.
Attending today's meeting was Linda McCloskey, Geneva Trent, Margie Plott, Terry
Steach, Frank Thomason, Audrey Plott and guest speaker Arthur Hart.
The first order of business was the acceptance of the Minutes.
The Committee reviewed the flier drawn-up by Audrey Plott and made some necessary
changes.
Arthur Hart's recommendations for the committee were:
A Getting people to attend a meeting to learn what the society is about.
B. Collect Historic information about Eagle instead of items.
C. Don't base facts on Newspaper articles, do deeper research.
D. Focus on a story, then get facts from interviewing families and in depth
research.
E. It's important to have an interviewer that knows what questions to ask.
F. Contact City leaders, post masters and newspapers for information.
G. Mr. Hart stressed that the restoration of buildings and memorabilia is
important and needs to be done by experienced restorers.
Arthur Hart also volunteered to do a slide show at a future meeting.
Linda suggested having a speaker from the Idaho Historical Society come and show us
the proper steps of setting up the Historic Commission.
Linda will try to contact Ann Swanson to be our next guest speaker. Each member was
asked to think about what projects they are interested on focusing on.
The meeting adjourned at 11 :35.
