THE EAGLE HISTORICAL SOCIETY
MINUTES FROM THE MEETING ON JULY 23,1997.
The first meeting for the Eagle Historical Society was called to order at 10:10AM. The
meeting took place at the Eagle City Hall. 5 people attended the first meeting, Betty Miller,
Linda McCloskey, Nancy Merrill, Audrey Plott, Margie Plott.
NEW BUSINESS:
Nancy Merrill discussed the Ordinance already in effect. She gave a copy to each
person present. Nancy asked people to make changes and/or suggestions they feel are
necessary. Nancy mentioned the focus of the Society and her desire to preserve Eagle's past.
Nancy passed a sheet around to get names and addresses of the people present.
People gave their reasons they felt it necessary to start a society. Audrey and Margie Plott
mentioned the lack of written references to Eagle. Nancy mentioned a tape she has of Orville
Jackson, the past owner of the Eagle Drug Store.
Nancy mentioned the use, of grants to help the Society achieve it's goals. Linda
McCloskey mentioned the need of planning and organizing.
Betty Miller mentioned that she knew a few women who have some references of Eagle
that might be of some help to us.
Linda McCloskey stressed that she felt it is important to involve people of all ages in
preserving Eagle's past.
Nancy mentioned observing other towns and studying how they balance the business
and recreational sections of their city, she mentioned that she would bring in pictures to show.
The goal for the next meeting will be to go though the ordinance, identify anything you
like and dislike. Contact more people to get involved in the society and bring back your goals of
what you would like to see the committee do.
Next we decided when to meet again. The date was set for July 30,1997 at 1 0:00AM. in
the City Hall.
Linda McCloskey mentioned the Caldwell library has information about Grants and ways
to raise money for the Historical Society. A discussion continued about grants. Linda also
mentioned the different kinds of grants available.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:35AM.
