UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
A. DR-5-97 New Ponderosa Paint Store DR-5-97 - New Ponderosa Paint Store (Old Food Town)-
Hearthstone Inc.: Hearthstone Inc., represented by Clair Eberhardt, is requesting design review approval
for a newPonderosa Paint store to be located in the vacated Food Town building. The site islocated at
227 E. State Street, one block east of Eagle Rd. on the southeast comer of EState and 1st Street (revised
packet to be mailed Friday March 7 per Jim Murray's ok).
Vance introduce the issue.
GENERAL DISCUSSION
Murray: I move we approve Ponderosa Paints application using the revised site plans and
elevations that were submitted to this meeting using all the standard, as well as site specific,
conditions of approval with the exceptions of item #4, item #5, and item #8; and introduce
the following: that the round columns be changed to square with a decoration above and
below at the base, and at the capital portion of the column; that the planters on the corner
of State and 1st be reconsidered, and perhaps a tree pit combination would be a better
selection; that an introduction of coniferous shrubs be placed in this application; and that
the bulb-out on First and State Street be extended to match the Design Review figure
provided ACHD and Zoning Administrator Mark Butler can reach an agreement and that
we have recommended elevation A as the selected Design.
Second by Martinez. Discussion noting that Witte will abstain from voting. ALL AYE:
MOTION CARRIES...

NEW BUSINESS:
A. DR-4-97 - Ada Emission Testing Building-Rob Jestadt: The Zoning Administrator is
requesting comment from the Design Review Board with regard to a staff level design review for
a new 80 sq. ft. emission testing building proposed by Rob Jestadt. The building is to be located
on the south east corner of the "We-Do-It Quick Lube" site at 1516 E. State St.
Vance introduces item. Zoning Administrator, Mark Butler, gives some background on the item.

GENERAL DISCUSSION
The Board had no objections to the Zoning Administrators recommendations regarding
this project.
B. DR-3-97 - New Smith's Chevron - Rick and Sandy Smith: BRS Architects, represented
by Randy Foster, is requesting design review approval for a new Chevron gas station,
convenience store, and car wash proposed to be located in the new Channel Center commercial
subdivision at 50 Inlet Bay. The site is located on the southwest corner of new State Highway 44
and Eagle Road.
Vance introduces issue:
GENERAL DISCUSSION
Vance moves to table Smiths Chevron to the next meeting. At the next meeting we will
look at the architecture of the building. Motion is seconded. All AYE MOTION
CARRIES...
