Eagle City Municipal Design Review and Landscaping Committee Meeting
March 6, 1996
Roll Call: Vance, Witte, Montgomery, Merrill, Hull, Markham. Absent: Trautman
Approval of the minutes of February 7, 1996: Moved by Merrill and seconded by Witte to
approve the minutes corrected as follows:
Page 1, the committee would not ---- insert "make the changes, have them reviewed by Phil and
they would not come back to Committee".
Page 1, Subway issue, paragraph beginning with moved by Markham and seconded by Merrill--
after the word "workmanship" to insert "due to Subways's construction". Unanimous.
FIRE DISTRICT DESIGN REVIEW AND LANDSCAPING:
Steve Christensen presented the plan to the Committee. Chips of colors and roofing were
displayed. The color of the building is beige, white trim and red asphalt shingles. There are 10
parking places. There are 2 curb cuts on FF Rd. There is no a pathway plan at this time.
Moved by Hull and seconded by Markham to approve the project as submitted with the following
conditions:
1. tall planting to buffer the west elevation of the building
2. pathway is not part ofthis application, and must be applied for with a separate application
3. this application includes the sign approval
4. make an effort to transplant the trees removed on the property

Meridian School District: Darrell Leatham appeared before the Committee and outlined the plan
to the Committee.
The issue of the siding and the irrigation system must be a decision made by Council. Plywood
siding is not allowed and the code calls for an automatic irrigation system. It was suggested that
they ask for a waiver from Council, but only the Council could grant that. The committee can't
violate codes.
Moved by Vance and seconded by Witte to table this issue until March 20 to have screening on
parking lot west side, and screening around the buildings and mechanicals on the building, to deal
with the eaves, colors, irrigation system, lighting, and plywood materials. The trees must be
proper size. Unanimous.

St Matthews Catholic Church: The proposal is for a interior lit sign. This is 10' X 4' sign. After
review of the code which outlines permitted signs in "all other zones" in Title 7. It was moved by
Witte and seconded by Markham. to table this until it was determined if this application is
properly under the jurisdiction of Design Review. . Unanimous
Subway Sandwich Shop: tabled until March 20
Albertson's Trees and signs: The Committee will report on the trees at the next meeting. Ms.
Merrill announced that Albertson's will have to ask for a resubmittal of application since they
intend to relocate the sign from where it was originally approved.
