Minutes - 1993 - Design Review - 09/09/1993 - Regular
PARKS/TREE COMMITTEE
September 9, 1993
Those in attendance: Tal Trautman, Kelli Blair, Carol West,
Barbara Montgomery. Absent: Meredith Carnahan, Laura Markham, Pete
Centorino.
SUBJECTS TO DISCUSS:
GOLF MAGIC: The project gained Design Review approval and
Landscaping approval, but changed plans afterward. By the request
of the Landscaping Conunittee the owners of Golf Magic were asked to
return to the Conunittee with the changes for further review. They
indicated they did not have the water to plant the grass, trees and
shrubs they wanted too. The new concept was discussed including a
decorative border, the sprinkler system and berming around the
putting green. They indicated the rear lot will be all asphalt,
but would probably be a year prior to being complete. The shrub
areas will be complete this fall. The Conunittee agreed to go to
the site and come back to the staff with a report of what kind of
landscaping should be accomplished on the property.
In reviewing this project the Committee reconunends the following:
1. The project does need 2 or 3 larger trees. The possible
locations are indicated on the attached drawing. All trees must be
a 2" caliper and at least 6' tall.
2. Shrubs on the East side of the building between the front corner
of the building and side door needed to be included in this plan
and planted no later than fall of 1993.
3. The location where the trees are on the NW corner of the
property needs to be cleaned up and included in a planter area
4. The area in the rear facing Dunyon, by the 2 mail boxes, is to
be a shrub area. There are only 2 mail boxes there which is not a
deterrent to landscaping. The area should be at least 4 ft. x 10
ft.
5. The property needs a general clean-up of weeds against the
fences, etc.
6. Irrigation will be provided by a sprinkler system in all planted
areas.
7. All shrub areas will be covered by wood chips.
8. All landscaping enclosed by railroad ties w a 1/1/4" cotton
rope (Daisy Chained).
9. Asphalt in the rear portion of the property to be complete
within a year.
10. Berms with appropriate plants to be included on both sides of
the front entry way.
ANDON COMPANY (DONALD ASBELL)
(Formerly the Inland Plastics site)
The plans are not in final form yet. Some of the shrubs in the
front portion already planted. There are Red Flame Maples and
shrubs. He will bring us a list and a final plat to review.
are at least 15 trees in a 300 ft. shrub area already.
project was continued until the next meeting.

ARBORETUM:
The Conunittee reviewed the final plan of the Arboretum, created by
Dave Koga. Dave Koga presented the tree plan and the landscapers
that will be providing the trees. It was announced by Carol West
that the total of the Tree Grant is now $ 14,956 but that this has
to be completed in the month of September. Dave will get with the
landscapers. Barbara will call Wright Bros. to have them
coordinate with the planting process.
