A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF EAGLE, IDAHO, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
SIGN A PROCLAMATION SPONSORED BY THE TREASURE VALLEY
PARTNERSHIP, DECLARING FEBRUARY AS "FAFSA COMPLETION MONTH"
WHEREAS, it is estimated that 63% of Idaho jobs will require a postsecondary degree or
certification by 2020; and
WHEREAS, The Idaho State Board of Education has set a goal of 60% of residents age 25
to 34 to have a college degree or postsecondary certificate by 2020; and
WHEREAS, Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an
important step toward postsecondary enrollment for Idahoans; and
WHEREAS, the FAFSA is the form that the federal government, states, and colleges use to
award money to help fund postsecondary education, and studies have shown 90% of high school
seniors who complete a FAFSA proceed directly on to postsecondary education; and
WHEREAS, the City of Eagle wishes to join with the member Cities of the Treasure Valley
Partnership to support participation in the FAFSA program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EAGLE, IDAHO,
The City of Eagle wishes to join with the member Cities of Treasure Valley Partnership in support
and declare the Month of February as "FAFSA COMPLETION MONTH", and authorize the
Mayor to sign the Partnership Proclamation.
ADOPTED by the Eagle City Council, Eagle, Idaho, this 14th day of February, 2017.
