Civic Lane April 13, 2022, 5:30 P.M. 1. CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 5:35 P.M. 2. ROLL CALL: Present: Macfarlane, Heath, Dunn A quorum is present. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT: None This time is reserved for the public to address the Historic Preservation Commission regarding concerns or comments they would like to provide to the Commission regarding any matter,up to and including any subject on the agenda.Out of courtesy for all who wish to speak,the Commission requests each speaker limit their comments to three(3)minutes. 4. PRESENTATION: Mayor Pierce gave an update on the Jackson House and discussed future plans for the property and surrounding area. 5. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A.ACTION ITEM: Sears Kit House, 4520 N. Linder Rd. Dunn reported the owners of the Sears Kit House, 4520 N. Linder, are currently doing minor restorations and are planning to stay at the location for the time being. The owners talked about possibly moving in the future as Linder Rd. is widened and the area becomes more populated. B.ACTION ITEM: Thomas Aikens House, 78 E. Aikens Rd. Nothing reported at this time. Commissioner D'Andrea is working on this project and will report at a future meeting. C.ACTION ITEM: Formation of Historic House Resource Guide for Homeowners. Dunn talked about the purpose of having a Resource Guide and asked the commissioners to research for possible vendors and bring names and contact information to the next meeting for discussion. A suggestion from the commissioners to eventually include the Resource Guide on the city's website. D.ACTION ITEM: Brookside School, 22871 Ranchero Dr. Middleton, ID Dunn explained the background of the school. She stated the city needs definite proof it is the Brookside School before they will consider moving and renovating the building. Dunn stated she has not had any luck finding the proof of the location of the school building from the 1970's to current. Commissioners Fend and D'Andrea were going to reach out to the churches and community but due to Covid the project was put on hold. 6. NEW BUSINESS: Page 1 of 2 A. ACTION ITEM: Minutes Approval of April 13, 2022 meeting Macfarlane makes a motion to accept the minutes of April 13, 2022 as presented. Seconded by Dunn. ALL AYE...MOTION CARRIES B. ACTION ITEM: Family Fun Night/ Eagle Fun Days, July 8-9, 2022 Dunn reported the 2021 Family Fun Night had 9 people visit the HPC booth and during Eagle Fun Days there were 250 people at the booth. Discussion if the HPC wants to participate in both events this year. Decision to move the July HPC mtg. to June and will finalize plans for Eagle Fun Days then. C. ACTION ITEM: County Treasure Award: Dunn reported she was contacted by the Ada County HPC who is looking for historic structures to be nominated for the County Treasure Award. She suggested St. Mary's Parrish/Church due to the building being in excellent condition and a Tourtellotte & Hummel structure. Dunn gave a brief history of the building and all were in agreement for the nomination. Dunn will submit the application to the Ada County HPC. D. ACTION ITEM: Future Agenda Items: Dunn suggested plans for Eagle Fun Days to be finalized at the next HPC mtg. scheduled for June 8, 2022 @ 5:30 p.m. 6. REPORTS: A. Commissioner Reports: Dunn reported the HPC was awarded the CLG grant for the Structure Report of the Jackson House. She will now be looking for a Structure Engineer to complete a report after Shari Sharp vacates the house in July. Commissioner Heath was introduced and welcomed to the Commission. B. Council Liaison: No report 7. ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business.Vice Chair Macfarlane moves to adjourn. Seconded by Dunn. ALL AYE...MOTION CARRIES.
