Box 1520 Jeff Kunz Eagle, Idaho 83616 Stan Bastian Naomi Preston 208-939-6813 Craig Soelberg Wreaths Across America Day Saturday, December 17th, 2016 WHEREAS, Wreaths Across America, a non-profit organization, began in 2007 as an extension of the Arlington National Cemetery Wreath Project, which was started in 1992 when evergreen memorial wreaths donated by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington, Maine were placed on the headstones of our Nation's fallen heroes during the holidays; and WHEREAS, last year it was estimated close to a million volunteers helped to place over 901,000 memorial wreaths at over 1,100 locations in all 50 States on behalf of Wreaths Across America, including Arlington National Cemetery and here in Idaho. WHEREAS, Eagle Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and countless volunteers here in Idaho are partnering with Wreaths Across America with a mission to REMEMBER the fallen, HONOR those who serve and TEACH our children the value of freedom; and WHEREAS, family members, friends and volunteers will help to place memorial wreaths on the over 3,400 gravesites of veterans laid to rest at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise, Idaho on Saturday, December 17th at 10:00 a.m. in a stirring tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who have guarded and preserved our nation's freedom throughout history; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stan Ridgeway, Mayor of Eagle, Idaho, do hereby proclaim December 17, 2016, as Wreaths Across America Day in Eagle, Idaho.
