Proclamation - City Council - 4/12/2022 - Sexual Assault Awareness Month CITY OF EAGLE, IDAHO
SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH
APRIL 2022
WHEREAS, the United States Government has declared April as "Sexual
Assault Awareness Month" and the Women's and Children's Alliance has declared
April 27, 2022 a "Denim Day"; and
WHEREAS, both events are intended to draw attention to the fact that rape
and sexual assault remain a serious issue in our society; and
WHEREAS, "Sexual Assault Awareness Month" and"Denim Day"were also
instituted to call attention to misconceptions and misinformation about rape and
sexual assault, and the problem that many in society remain disturbingly uninformed
with respect to issues of assault and forcible rape; and
WHEREAS, with proper education on the matter, there is compelling
evidence that we can successfully reduce incidents of this alarming and
psychologically damaging crime; and
WHEREAS, the city of Eagle is an important partner in the Women's and
Children's Alliance's efforts to educate our community about the true impact of rape
and sexual assault.
THEREFORE, I, Jason Pierce, Mayor of the City of Eagle Idaho, do hereby
proclaim April, 2022, as
SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH
in the city of Eagle and encourage all citizens to speak out against sexual assault
and support local efforts to provide help and healing to victims of these crimes.
