June 2016
For the month of June 2016, look to Eagle restaurants, retail stores, and wine
shops to support Idaho Wine with tasting events, "special by the glass" opportunities to
try Idaho wines at our restaurants, special wine oriented dinners and retail sales.
WHEREAS, the Eagle Foothills American Viticulture Area is newly established as
the only AVA located completely within Idaho and the Eagle Foothills AVA designation
identifies the area as producing good quality wine grapes in Idaho; and
WHEREAS, 8 grape growers now grow fruit in the Eagle Foothills AVA and City
of Eagle, and Eagle's grape growing and wine industry will continue to grow and flourish
by adding more wineries and agribusinesses to stimulate the economy with future jobs;
and
WHEREAS, Eagle is very proud of the many grape growers and wine producers
who contribute to the flourishing agricultural industry by creating jobs and revenue for
the state; and
WHEREAS, resourcefulness and enterprise have enabled Idaho's wine industry
to reach a rate of almost 17 -percent growth, making Idaho 22nd in the nation for wine
production; and
WHEREAS, those in the wine industry have worked extremely hard to make
Idaho wine what it is today and to continually improve the standard of excellence;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Stan Ridgeway, Mayor of the City of Eagle, Idaho, do
hereby recognize
June 2016
as Idaho Wines Month
