Minutes - 1988 - City Council - 10/18/1988 - SpecialEAGLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING
OCTOBER 18, 1988
The Eagle City Council met in special session on October 18, 1988
at 12:30 p.m. Mayor GUERBER presiding.
Roi1 call showed the following members present: TOM MINOW, STEVE
MATLOCK, GARY WALKER, STEVE HAMMONS,
Mayor GUERBER informed the Council that a petition for liquor by
the drink had been submitted by Bob and Connie Reitan, and that
the required number of signatures had been verified by the deputy
city clerk. MINOW asked for clarification as to whether, since
the petition had been executed with the proper number of
signatures, there was a need to pass a Resolution to call a
special election, or if that just automatically happened. Mike
Moore, city attorney, explained the function of the Resolution as
simply setting out the particulars and requirements of the
election. Mayor GUERBER stated that approving the Resolution
calling for a special election was not a reflection of the
individual Council members' opinions on the sale of liquor by the
drink.
Moved by MATLOCK and seconded by HAMMONS to adopt Resolution 6-88
to call for a special election on the matter of the sale of
liquor by the drink in the City of Eagle. ALL AYE: MOTION
CARRIED.
Moved by HAMMONS and seconded by MATLOCK
Herrick, Lana Friederich, and Carol Deckard as
