WHEREAS, Nonprofit organizations help build and sustain healthy communities in our
state and enhance the quality of life for Idahoans and for others throughout the country
and the world; and
WHEREAS, The thousands of nonprofit organizations based in Idaho contribute
significantly to a viable economy by providing Idahoans with jobs, goods, and services,
with expenditures of more than $3.5 billion annually according to the most recent data;
and
WHEREAS, Idaho's nonprofit leaders are often entrepreneurs, creating new solutions to
problems, and fill previously unmet needs in the areas of health, recreation, education,
research, arts, social services, and more; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit sector works as a responsible partner with private enterprise
and government to alleviate the most pressing social issues of our time; and
WHEREAS, Idahoans have one of the highest rates of volunteerism in the nation, thus
providing opportunities for leadership, civic engagement, and building communities; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit sector acts as a responsible steward of charitable dollars to
achieve a diverse range of missions and goals; and
WHEREAS, Nonprofit organizations often fulfill their missions by advocating on behalf
of those who cannot advocate for themselves; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit sector throughout Idaho has a proud history of service,
innovation, and social change; and
WHEREAS, The accomplishments of the nonprofit sector deserve acknowledgment,
affirmation, and celebration; now, therefore,
NOW THEREFORE, I, James D. Reynolds, Mayor of the City of Eagle, do herby
proclaim November 13-19, 2011, to be
"Idaho Nonprofit Week"
and do encourage all Eagle residents to continue to recognize and support the nonprofit
organizations in their comm►nities.
